María Hernández, our founder, is a graduate of the Social Service Worker program at Niagara College. With over 18 years of experience, María demonstrates a profound understanding and sensitivity to the needs and emotions of our patients. Her approach is distinguished by her dedication, as well as her firm appreciation and respect for cultural, social, and individual differences.

Assistance

We offer a wide range of care services including:

Personal Care:

  • Bathing
  • Teeth and mouth care
  • Dressing/grooming
  • Toileting
  • Eating
  • Ambulation
  • Transferring
  • Assisting with self-administration of medication

Palliative Support Care Includes

  • Providing personal care (bathing, dressing),
  • Assisting with mobility,
  • Administering medications,
  • Monitoring vital signs, and offering emotional support and companionship.

Dementia Care

  • Assisting with medication reminders.
  • Providing orientation to date, time, and place when necessary.
  • Ensuring patient’s living space is clutter-free
  • Performing light housekeeping duties like sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming, washing dishes, and laundry.
  • Helping with grocery shopping, meal planning and preparation, and even walking the family dog or attending to their pets, when necessary.
  • Assisting the patient with any activity they would do if able to live independently.

Alzheimer

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including eating, toileting, mobility, and medication. Prepare meals and snacks according to specified diet; serve and clean after meals and snacks.
  • Assists participants upon arrival and departure, helping them with their outerwear and belongings, including safe storage of medication.

Over Night Support

  • Providing personal care such as bathing, oral hygiene, and toileting; helping them with dressing, grooming, and eating; and assisting with ambulation, positioning, and transferring (using devices like a Hoyer lift).

Post-Surgery and Rehabilitation Support

  • Personal care
  • Meal preparation
  • Ensuring they follow their postoperative care instructions
  • Help with medication reminders.
  • Encourage mobility within their limitations.

Caregiver Relief

  • Many people receiving home and community care services are assisted by friends and/or family members. Respite services can give family/friend caregivers temporary relief from the emotional and physical demands of caring for a friend or family member and provide an opportunity to participate in community activities.

Acquired Brain Injury support

  • Physical Assistance
  • Help with tasks like bathing, dressing, mobility and other challenges of everyday life. Ensure the environment is safe to prevent accidents or falls.
  • Medication Management
  • Assist with medication schedules, prescriptions, and tracking side effects.
  • Communication Support
  • Rehabilitation Exercises
  • Encourage and support participation in rehabilitation exercises recommended by healthcare professionals.
